The Souhegan Scholarship Foundation is here to help local students defray the high cost of higher education.
Education is expensive. Whether you are continuing on to a two- or four-year college or applying to a trade program, our scholarship program can assist you in your journey. By applying for scholarships offered in your local community, you can help defray these costs and lessen the burden of the expense of higher education.
The Souhegan Scholarship Foundation (SSF) serves the students of the Souhegan Valley, specifically in Amherst and Mont Vernon, NH. It was formally established in 2003. The Foundation's Board of Directors consists of local citizens who administer the SSF, raise money for scholarships, evaluate the students' scholarship applications, and grant awards to the students best meeting the criteria. This is a formal process requiring an interview for the finalists and is conducted in an impartial and strictly confidential manner. The scholarships are awarded to assist students who demonstrate academic achievement with financial needs in their first year of college.
Applicants must be high school seniors, with permanent residency in Amherst or Mont Vernon, NH. Students who are enrolled in either public or private schools, as well as home-schooled students, are eligible to apply. Attendance at a four-year college is not required as long as the program of study is full-time and will result in a degree or diploma. All applicants must demonstrate scholastic achievement and promise. Financial need will be considered.
